The Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) process has been used extensively for wastewater treatment to remove suspended matter, such as fats, oils, and grease (FOG), total suspended solids (TSS), and insoluble BOD, from wastewater streams. In the DAF process, air is dissolved in the wastewater, creating thousands of microbubbles which float and thicken the suspended material. The thickened and partially-dewatered solids are then segregated for recovery or disposal. Clarified effluent is available for discharge or further biological treatment and water reuse.
